Keurig Kcup Cafe Latte

If you have been around awhile you have come to know (and hopefully love) our Monday K-cup coffee recipes.  I love fun, easy to make coffee drinks. They are a simple indulgence that can usually be made with ingredients already in your kitchen.  There will be no running to the local coffee shop around here, no sir,  we have Keurig’s in our kitchen that make these recipes easy peasy.

I have said it before,  I have a pet peave with the intimidation tactics used by coffee shops.  Now do not get me wrong,  I LOVE the rare treat of sitting down and enjoying a coffee served to me in a quaint setting with a beautiful dessert to boot.  But,  I do not love the complicated “coffee shop lingo” and drink names when I know darn well,  I can make those same exact drinks at home. Not only can I make them easily at home but,  I can make them with my Keurig brewer.

The past few weeks I have been sharing some really fun recipes that I hope you have enjoyed trying (I know I have,  especially the coffee sorbet…yummy!).  I am thinking today that it is time to go back to the basics.  If you know how to make a few staple coffee drinks you can use them in hundreds of recipes.  We will start today with THE original coffee house drink…Cafe Latte.

Last week our recipe was for a lovely homemade Kcup Cafe Au Lait.  You may notice that a Cafe Latte and Cafe Au Lait are very similar.  What is the difference you ask?  Simply,  the origin.  Cafe Au Lait is French and uses a french roast coffee base or in our recipe a Green Mountain French Roast Kcup. Cafe Latte is Italian and of course uses an espresso base.  This poses a problem for us because there is no longer an espresso bean Kcup (much to our dismay) but,  there are several that will give you a similar taste.  We always recommend Green Mountain Dark Magic as a replacement.  Dark Magic Keurig K-cup coffee offers the rich aromatics and flavor qualities of espresso, tailored specifically for the unique brewing parameters of a K-Cup pack.

The best part about this latte recipe may be that it requires no milk steamer! This easy latte recipe makes enough for one person:

Latte Ingredients for One Serving

  • 3/4 c. 2% milk (You can use whole milk also)
  • 1/8 t. vanilla (optional, but makes it way yummier- Use real vanilla if possible!)
  • 2 t. raw sugar (regular white sugar also works or honey)
  • 1 brewed Kcup – (Green Mountain Dark Magic brewed on the lowest water setting on your Keurig)
  • Optional whipped cream (homemade is best, but whipped topping will do)

I prefer this recipe with just the milk and coffee but,  thought that many of you may enjoy the doctored up version.

How to Make a Latte Recipe Just Like Starbucks!

Warm the milk on the stove or in a microwave until it is hot. Be careful not to scald it. Put everything  except the coffee into a blender. Blend until it gets nice and frothy, like a latte.

Immediately pour the contents of the blender into a large coffee mug. Add the hot coffee.

Top your homemade latte with whipped cream if you like. You can also sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, ginger, or a combination of preferred spices on top for a festive appearance and added flavor. Get creative- try apple pie spice or pumpkin spice, for example.

Viola!  A homemade Cafe Latte with you Keurig Kcup brewer!  Those fancy coffee houses got nothin on you,  save your bucks and stay at home : )
