It is very important to clean and maintain your Keurig brewer on a regular basis. This will prolong the life of your unit and supply you with the best tasting Kcup coffee day after day (or hour after hour if you are anything like me!). How do you choose the right Kcup and brew it properly? Are Kcups Kosher? Are Organic Kcups available? Each week we will be educating you on best practices for Keurig brewer care and Kcup brewing.
This weeks installment of Keurig 101 is…What does Extra Bold mean on a Keurig Kcup?
Have you noticed the term Extra Bold on your Keurig Kcups? Green Mountain Coffee and their partner roasters have designed Extra Bold Kcups for those of us who prefer a richer more robust cup of gourmet coffee. If you have a larger mug that you choose to fill with the 10 or 12 ounce water settings on your brewer or if you need a strong coffee for a coffee-house recipe, then these are the Kcups for you!
Extra Bold Kcups contain up to 30 percent more fine ground coffee than regular Kcups. The extra coffee obviously brews a stronger cup of joe. Extra Bolds can stand up to a significant amount of water or milk and maintain all of the delicious nuances that you were intended to enjoy. I am a huge fan of Extra Bolds, I always use the highest water setting on my brewer to fill my mug and I like to taste a lot of coffee in my coffee!
The same explanation applies to any Kcups you see labeled “Travel Mug”. Travel mug Kcups are designed to brew on the highest water setting, filing your favorite on the go cup!
If you are looking for an ultra strong cup of coffee, Keurig has that covered as well. Revv and Revv Pulse Kcups contain a whopping 40 percent more coffee than a standard Kcup and 27 percent more caffeine!! With the added Ginseng and Guarana, Revv Pulse is sure to get you fired up!
Extra Bold Kcups are my top choice for a full-bodied larger cup of coffee. The rich taste is amazing flavors and leaves your coffee cravings nicely satisfied : )
