Back by popular demand- Friday Kcup reviews! Every Friday at Cross Country Cafe we host a flavor review. Let’s face it the selection of K-cups we have to choose from is huge, how do you pick the right one? Who wants to buy an entire box and not like it?! Our goal is to describe how the coffee or tea tastes in simple layman’s terms so that you can determine if it suits your preferences. Let’s get to the review, up this week…Green Mountain Naturals Brew Over Ice Lemonade.
Lemonade is a Brew Over Ice Keurig Kcup brought to us by Green Mountain Naturals, a division of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. Lemonade Kcups contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives! Sweetened with nothing but good old-fashioned lemons and sugar. Take a look at the ingredients:
Sugar, Lemon Juice Powder (Citric Acid, Sugar, Lemon Oil, Lemon Juice Solids, Ascorbic Acid), Citric Acid, Reb A (Stevia Extract), Natural Flavor, Lemon Peel Powder, Lemon Fruit Powder
Yay, I can pronounce them all!
This is a Brew Over Ice Kcup which means just that, you brew it directly over ice. I filled a large glass (you should use plastic) with ice and headed to my Keurig. As always when brewing over ice, I used the lowest water setting of my unit.
I was surprised at the color of the lemonade, it was not the typical whitish, cloudy look that you would expect, it was much more clear. I would attribute that to the lack of artificial coloring and that definitely pleases me.
The first sip was cold, refreshing and delicious but, the lemon taste was a bit week to me so I tried again with a little less ice and that did the trick. Brew Over Ice lemonade tastes perfectly balanced, just the right amount of bitter balanced with a touch of sweet. A perfect beverage to serve to guests or to refresh after yard work! If you want to take it up a notch like I did, rim the glass with sugar, add some blueberries and garnish with a sprig of mint and viola:
You have an impressive looking, unbelievably delicious treat in minutes!
P.S. Lemonade Kcups do contain sugar, for this reason it is always a good idea to run a water only cycle through your Keurig after brewing Lemonade. The same applies to any of the sweetened Brew Over Ice Teas, Apple Cider and Vitamin Bursts.
